Maxim Screws the Black Crowes

The Black Crowes are squawking mad at Maxim magazine! The publication gives the Crowes' new album "Warpaint" a scathing review in the March issue ... apparently without ever listening to it!

Although no advance CD's were made available, the mag lists the album as having two-and-a-half stars out of five and says, "it [the album] hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth."

According to the AP, the band's manager, Pete Angelus said Maxim explained the review as an "educated guess."

46. FAAAH Q Maxim! SUE AND SUE SOME MORE!!! There's always gonna be those morons who say they dislike the band, but if some people (MAXIM) are soooo wrong like that, get behind the right side. What they did was wrong, plain and simple. How can any normal person tolerate that?

47. Seems more likely that the Maxim writer listened to a bootleg copy of the album and didn't want to get busted for that, so he made up a bogus story about his review in advance of any official release.

50. I love the fact that Chris, Rich, and Band have kept control of the CD. No other Band would be able to expose this, because most of them have given over artistic control to the almighty industry.

51. It's very simple, folks: Maxim didn't get advance copies of the latest Black Crowes album, so they retaliated by giving them a crappy review. In any case, this type of crap proves that the only thing that's great about Maxim anymore is the hot chicks that pose for photos with barely anything on ;-) ;-) ;-)

BTW: Go to this url to listen to the album yourself. Make up your own mind as to whether it's good or not.

52. Being the fan that I am of the Black Crowes, I am pretty happy about all of this because....this is great publicity!! People who get what the music means and those who don't will still find a good time with the music. Also remember that it is CROWES and no CROWS. Peace

53. The Black crowes have ALWAYS sucked!!!!!!! I was dragged to see them on a few occasions and they never impressed me on any front. They have tried to market themselves as a jamband, pot smokers, rockers, etc, etc, etc. The fact is they absolutely BLOW!!!! Give it up. You suck!
