It is/was/will be against the law for him to purchase or have someone else purchase guns for him. Period. The end.

The 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was busted in the parking lot of a shopping center not far from the award show's Atlanta venue, collared by agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives after picking up three machine guns, two silencers and a pistol from an undercover ATF officer, which, per the feds, his bodyguard had purchased on his behalf.

T.I. was previously convicted on drug violations back in 1998 and given seven years' probation, and he later was busted on gun-related charges. It's a federal offense for a convicted felon to have someone purchase firearms on their behalf.

36. Believe it or not every one of those guns shown in the photo is legal to own. Except that one with the big round thing on the end, which appears to be a silencer. And if those AR15's arent automatics, you can own one. If they are auto's you can get a special permit from the Feds and approval from your towns Police Chief.

But you cant get anything, not one of those or any other model if you are a Convicted Felon. Cant buy one, cant own one, cant have one---period.

He'll face multiple charges here, possesing, trying to buy, and given he wanted autos and silencers, thats a 10 year mandatory minimum full time served sentence.

Feds usually do get their man in court.

I love the fact that his attorney didn't know his client was a convicted felon, he also says that several other people live in the house so the guns there aren't his, the only problem is the gun safe in T.I.s closet had fingerprint access. T.I. deserves to be in jail for stupidity if nothing else.

42. I'm so tired of these talented kids who make major money and then completely mess up their own lives. God gave them talent , but left out common sense. A charge of being a Felon in possession of a firearm is very serious. This guy is dealing with the ATF, the very last agency you want to f&%k with. Those guys are scary tough - they boarded our boat upon returning to Florida from a fishing trip to the Bahamas, guns drawn. After they tore the boat apart and found nothing illegal, they relaxed and turned out be be OK. I remember thinking "God, I would never want to be on the bad side of these guys!"

This kid is probably going away for a long time.
